Lower Elementary
Our Lower Elementary program (Full-time grades 1–3 and Blended grades 2-3 ) builds upon the strong foundation laid in our Primary Montessori classrooms, guiding students into the next phase of deeper learning and independence. Rooted in a Christian Montessori education, students continue to thrive in a joyful learning environment that respects their unique pace and God-given potential.
Hands-on, Mastery-Based Approach
Children in Lower Elementary continue at their own pace in a stress free environment, yet are challenged to reach their fullest academic potential through mastery based education in their core subject areas. This curriculum is marked by a higher level of independence where students take charge of their own learning, grow in developing their research skills, and become proficient in their public speaking and presentation abilities.
A Holistic, Nature-Based Learning Experience
Lower Elementary students at Oak City Academy benefit from a well-rounded curriculum that includes:
- Bible study, Christian character formation, and Christian generosity curriculum
- Hands-on math and language works using Montessori materials
- Enrichment activities such as art, music, theater, and PE (classes vary by year)
- Nature-based education with outdoor learning and exploration opportunities (Blended Model families are encouraged to promote outdoor learning time at home)
- History, science, and geography rooted in hands-on experiences, field trips, and a Christian worldview
