Welcome to OCA Middle School

At Oak City Academy, Middle School is a formative season where students discover who God created them to be while finding confidence and belonging in a vibrant Christian community. Through a unique blend of Classical and Montessori education, students engage deeply with core academics, practical life skills, and character development in a supportive yet challenging environment. 

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we focus on rooting students in their identity in Christ while fostering independence. Our graduates are academically prepared and equipped with the character, time-management, and self-advocacy skills needed to thrive in high school and beyond.

What Makes OCA Middle School Distinct?

Students experience a thoughtful, hands-on education rooted in living books, Socratic dialogue, outdoor learning, and project-based exploration. Every student explores unique life-skill classes and electives called Creative Pathways—hands-on classes designed to develop real-world skills and spark lifelong passions.

Tailoring the Experience: Our Two Pathways

While both programs share our core community experience—including signature field trips like our fall high ropes and team-building retreat—families can choose the track that best supports their student's learning style:

• The Hybrid Program (3 Days/Week): Perfect for families seeking flexibility. Students receive structured independent work, instructional videos, and guided assignments to successfully navigate their 2 home-study days each week.

• The Full-Time Program (5 Days/Week): Ideal for families looking for maximum on-campus enrichment. Full-time students benefit from additional core classes, small-group teacher tutoring, specialized workshops, leadership and mentorship opportunities, and expanded Creative Pathways elective choices.

The Order of the Oak – Our House System

The Order of the Oak is our intergenerational House System designed to cultivate spiritual growth, leadership, service, and a deep sense of belonging across all grade levels.

Each student is placed into a House named after a faithful man or woman from church history—individuals who lived boldly for the Kingdom of God. Within their House, students build meaningful relationships across ages, grow as leaders, and participate in shared traditions and experiences.

Every House is uniquely shaped by its own mascot, creed, key verse, and purpose, creating a strong identity and unity that students carry throughout their time at OCA.
