English 7/8

Class Description

English 7/8 is recommended for all 7th & 8th Graders who have not used The Lost Tools of Writing Curriculum before. This class focuses on the persuasive essay introducing The Lost Tools of Writing Level One. Students will learn how to compare the positive and negative aspects of an ethical question rising from novels and short stories. Students learn to craft an argument using the exordium, a strong thesis, convincing proofs, and amplification. This course also includes a rigorous vocabulary curriculum The Word Within the Word I to illustrate the important role of Latin and Greek stems in English vocabulary. Each lesson contains discussions and illustrations that offer students a greater understanding of the classical roots of the English language. This course also covers a study of English grammar and punctuation using The Magic Lens I. Students will learn to analyze sentences by identifying the parts of speech, the parts of a sentence, and how to implement proper punctuation in their writing.

Cancelation Policy

Any class dropped after the 3rd day of classes at midnight is non refundable. Classes dropped before the 3rd day of school are 50% refundable.
