The Upper Elementary curriculum is designed to continue to encourage 4th-5th Year students in their development of greater independence and responsibility, creative thinking, observation and problem solving, character development, and confident leadership skills.  Upper Elementary at Oak City Academy continues to individualize curriculum through its Upper El age groups. There is an increased emphasis on small group and project based learning. For some parts of the curriculum, students are challenged at their academic level. In other parts of the curriculum, children work in diversified groups, where they can learn from their peers who have different strengths than they do. The class utilizes hands on experiments, nature journaling, and other projects to keep the children’s learning tied to the world around them.
